Canadian Icon Margaret Trudeau Will Debut Her Autobiographical Solo Show at The Second City

“My life for so many years was a reality show. Now I will be able to put that on the stage.”

Margaret Trudeau, the mother of one Prime Minister of Canada and the former wife of another, will workshop a new autobiographical solo show, titled Certain Woman of an Age, over Mother's Day weekend at The Second City's UP Comedy Club in Chicago.

“I am rather astonished this is happening,” she told the Chicago Tribune's Chris Jones in her first interview about the project. “I have had quite the grand, interesting life. I have some great stories. But I am also very human and I suffered an awful lot. So I always like to get people laughing.”

“All of my children have been so sweet and supportive of what I am doing,” Trudeau told Jones. “My honesty about mental illness has helped open a door for real conversation, and I think Justin wants to continue that conversation. He has put no restrictions on me.”

Certain Woman of an Age runs May 9-12, 2019 at UP Comedy Club. Tickets are now on sale by phone at 312-337-3992 or at www.secondcity.com.
