Call for Applications
The Second City is now seeking volunteers interested in assuming openings for the 2019-2020 Accessibility Advisory Board to increase accessibility for all patrons, students, performers, and employees of the iconic comedy company.
The Accessibility Advisory Board’s mission is to review, comment, and advise The Second City Accessibility Committee on the implementation and enhancement of programs and services for people with disabilities. The four-to-six member committee will meet once every other month at The Second City Training Center, located at 230 W. North Ave.
Agenda items will focus on accessible programming, staff training, and additional methods to make The Second City and its shows, classes, and services more accessible. The Board’s collective suggestions and proposals will then be brought to the appropriate Second City departments for consideration and implementation by the Accessibility Committee.
Community members appointed to serve on the Board shall serve a term of one year beginning June 10, 2019, and ending April 13, 2020. Additionally, qualified applications received during this recruitment will be used to fill any midterm vacancies that occur during the year.
The Second City actively encourages people with varying disabilities, diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, and underrepresented gender identities to apply. The Second City Accessibility Committee will collectively appoint the 4-6 founding members who identify as having a disability to be on the Board.
Applicants must be available to attend meetings once every other month. The Accessibility Committee is seeking persons who can project manage the tasks assigned to the Board and meet deadlines. We also ask our Board members to commit to timely responses to requests from the Accessibility Committee.
Prospective applicants are requested to exercise respect for others, empathy for divergent points of view, and the ability to commit up to six hours a month for committee-related work.
Please email email@example.com with any questions you may have. Deadline: All applications must be submitted by EOD Wednesday, April 17, 2019.
